This size optimizes the mold usage for the manufacturer. Sounds pretty straight forward and efficient, doesn’t it? But wait a minute. What if you only need 4 feet of the 12 foot sheet? Your fabricator would say, “That’s fine, I’ll just put the remaining 8 feet into inventory and use it for another order.” Okay. But what if you ordered that 4 foot piece in bright orange (1970's style). At this point your fabricator is thinking . . . “You know, I’m going to have to add a little to my prices, just in case that left over orange piece doesn’t sell.” Looks like “molds” aren’t so efficient after all . . . especially when you have to pay for someone else’s left overs!
